Pipeline to Jobs:

There are lots of paths to success – Pipeline is all about the fast lane!

Pipeline was created to help students, employers and educators discover a path that puts young people on the most direct line from school to a rewarding job with a bright future.

The Albany Area Chamber of Commerce began this initiative by convening the Workforce Development Taskforce. During the process of defining the needs of local business and industry, the committee developed a plan to combine their efforts with local educators to provide more comprehensive training options for local students. Also as a result of their efforts, Pipeline was developed to provide a single source for students, educators, parents, and industry to access information and opportunity.

Pipeline became a reality through the generous contributions of local business and industry members, along with financial and advisory assistance from Greater Albany Public Schools, Linn-Benton Community College, and Linn County.

Youth Job Fair:

The Linn Youth Job Fair started in 1986 has now grown to include a Keynote Speaker, and Information Fair, and Mock Interviews that are given by local employers and volunteers. Over 1500 Albany Area High School students attend the Youth Job Fair in order to learn valuable interviewing and professional skills that will help them transition from High School to new opportunities.

The 28th Annual Youth Job Fair is going to be in December at LBCC. To find out more information, click below to view last year’s volunteer form.

Youth Leadership:

This program is designed to cultivate and nurture the hidden leadership qualities that exist in all youth of the Albany community. 24 high school students are selected from Albany Schools to enhance their leadership skills by teaching them more about the community and the role that city, state, and community leaders take to help to shape Albany. During the 9 month program, they tour several local businesses, job shadow a local professional, and participate in community service.
