ProgramsBusiness SeminarsThe Albany Area Chamber of Commerce partners together with local businesses to help members with issues facing the economy, local businesses, or personal issues. Some of the seminars that we have held are:The Linn Benton Employers Council and the Chamber joined together to provide bi-monthly seminars that are of interest to local employers. Drug-Free Workplace Program: The Albany Area Chamber works with area businesses to develop drug-free workplace programs including: drug and alcohol identification, workplace policy development, employer and employee resources, etc. Various seminars and workshops are held throughout the year. The date for our next Drug-Free Workplace Seminar is to be announced.
Our next discussion will be held Tuesday, May 20th, 7:50 – 10:00 AM at the Chamber office. Joseph Bailey will be presenting in seminar format the topic "Situational Leadership", using a model created by author Ken Blanchard, as well as handouts.. The series of One-Minute Manager books were written to capture this model. If you would like to read a book prior to the seminar, the suggested title is Self Leadership & the One Minute Manager by Ken Blanchard, Susan Fowler, and Laurence F. Hawkins. High School ScholarshipsJust a friendly reminder to all Chamber members that the deadline for High School Scholarship Applications is Tuesday, March 1st. Three $1500 scholarships will be awarded to qualifying high school seniors from South Albany, West Albany and Santiam Christian High Schools for the 2007-2008 school year. Applications are available at the Chamber office or at the High Schools.Leadership AlbanyProviding a complete overview of the Albany area during nine months, this program is also designed to stimulate and motivate participants to meet demands and future needs of the community. It gives members a chance to talk to key community leaders and learn about issues facing their companies and the community.New Member OrientationsThe Chamber hosts orientations several times a year to refresh and teach members about the various benefits that Chamber membership has to offer. It also helps members get the most out of their chamber membership.Youth Job FairThe Annual Youth Job Fair started in 1986 has now grown to include a Key Note Speaker, Workshops, Student interviews provided by local employers, and an Information Fair. Over 1500 Albany Area High School students attend the Youth Job Fair in order to learn valuable interviewing and professional skills that will help them transition from High School to new opportunities.To volunteer for this event download the following registration form by clicking on the link. Youth LeadershipThis program is designed to cultivate and nurture the hidden leadership qualities that exist in all youth of the Albany community. 24 high school students are selected from Albany Schools to enhance their leadership skills by teaching them more about the community and the role that city, state, and community leaders take to help to shape Albany. During the 9 month program they tour several local businesses, job shadow a local professional, and participate in community service.Sponsored by:
