In an era of constant scrutiny and mistrust of governments it is reassuring to know that the City of Albany’s Police, Fire and Ambulance levy has been well thought out, researched and reviewed, and they are asking for no more than what it takes to get the job done. After a review of the proposed levy the Governmental Affairs Committee voted to support the levy and is encouraging all members to Vote Yes when they get their ballots.

City of Albany Public Safety Levy: A five year operating levy that was first implemented in 2002 (by tremendous support of voters) that supports Police, Fire and Ambulance services. This levy will allow for continued services within city limits. With a population increase since the last levy there is an increased demand for services. The citizens and businesses in Albany need to continue their support for public safety.

Will Tucker has been endorsed by the Good Government Council, the political action affiliate of the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce. This endorsement was made after interviews with both candidates running for this position.

The GGC is non-partisan. Some of the questions taken into consideration when endorsing a candidate for this position include, but are not limited to: does the candidate understand and support the concerns of Albany area businesses, are they favorable to a strong and competitive business climate, and how will they work within county budget constraints to manage and lead Linn County.

Endorsement goes to incumbent Will Tucker. Will lives in the Scio/Crabtree area and has served constituents well these past four years as a Linn County Commissioner. He has a good working relationship with other Commissioners, Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller, and other elected officials. Through his active volunteerism and business roles he understands the needs and desires of Linn County citizens. Will continues to take an active role in developing jobs for citizens of the County while making the most efficient use of taxpayer resources and prioritizing needs. The Good Government Council encourages Linn County voters to re-elect Commissioner Will Tucker.

Leadership books and articles too often focus on actions/behaviors. At the root of all action are the things that are important to us: beliefs, values, emotions. This session of Leadership Edge will focus on the power of understanding those things that you value the most and, in turn, use to lead others. The reading for the month is Leadership from the Inside Out by Kevin Cashman. Our conversation will be filled with some of the exercises that he has in this great book.

You can register for this event via the registration flyer that was included in your Chamber Network newsletter, broadcast email or via the Program & Events section of this website.
